The University of North Carolina community mourns the loss of former wide receiver Tylee Craft, who passed away at 23 after a courageous battle with stage 4 lung cancer. Craft's inspiring story touched hearts, and his legacy will live on.


A Fighter Until the End


Diagnosed in 2022, Craft defied medical expectations, outliving his prognosis by two and a half years. Through it all, he remained a beacon of hope, attending practices, meetings, and games with unwavering spirit.


Coach Mack Brown's Emotional Tribute


"This young man fought so hard... with a smile on his face," Brown said, choking back tears. "He didn't miss a meeting, a practice... He coached these incredible young people." Brown hailed Craft as a shining example of resilience and positivity.


A Celebration of Life


The Tar Heels honored Craft during their annual Cancer Awareness Game, with friends and family wearing shirts bearing his name and number. An on-field ceremony recognized his remarkable courage.


Tylee's Impact


Craft played 11 games over two seasons, but his influence extended far beyond the field. He graduated with honors, became an assistant coach, and earned the 2022 Disney Spirit Award for his inspirational story.
